ABOUT
LIMINAL

Presented by Orange Grove Dance + Dance Place

LIMINAL (LMNL) celebrates dance film and projection mapping as powerful mediums for capturing the unspoken essence of our bodies, communities, and shared humanity. Featuring artists whose interdisciplinary practices push the boundaries of Dance Cinema, the festival highlights work that reflects movement’s profound ability to connect, transform, and reveal.

Rooted in the concept of "liminality"—the threshold between one state and another—the festival embraces works that exist in the in-between spaces: between body and image, tradition and innovation, presence and memory.

LMNL seeks to champion voices from around the world while highlighting the incredible talent of the DMV region, creating a platform where local and international artists converge to explore new dimensions of movement on screen.

/ ABOUT DANCE PLACE /

Rooted in the heart of the nation’s capital, Dance Place is a vibrant cultural hub that has been a cornerstone of Washington, DC’s dance community for over four decades. Located in the Brookland/Edgewood neighborhood, Dance Place provides space, resources, and opportunities for movement artists to create, perform, and share their work. Its mission centers on investing deeply in artists—particularly those historically excluded from such opportunities—strengthening the field through creative development, performance, and education.

The Dance Place campus is home to three training and rehearsal studios, a 144-seat theater, a children’s center, the lively 8th St Arts Park, and housing for artists and interns. Recognized nationally for its leadership in arts education and creative placemaking, Dance Place offers the perfect setting for LIMINAL, where local and international artists will converge to explore the transformative intersections of dance, film, and technology.
